What is a Home inspection?

A home inspection is a non-invasive, visual examination of the accessible areas of a residential property, which is designed to identify defects within specific systems and components of the home, as defined by the NYS Standards of Practice. The inspector will observe these systems and components in a methodical way that insures a thorough and comprehensive assessment of the property.

The on-site home inspection process can take anywhere from a few hours to many more, depending on the size of the home, the type of home (Multi family), and the installed systems and their condition. Most important to the inspection process is that proper time is allotted to the inspector to complete a thorough inspection and that the residence to be inspected is prepared properly in advance. Items are stored in a manner that does not impede the inspection, such as blocking access to electrical panels, attic/crawlspace hatchways, the operation of garage doors, etc. At the end of the inspection the inspector will discuss any findings and observations with you, and offer suitable time for any questions you may have.

After the on-premise inspection is complete you will receive a link to your inspection report within 48 hours unless there are extenuating circumstances, which will be communicated by the inspector.
